Internationalization of activities 

Education, teaching and research at the department for educational and professional programs are consistent with the accepted university internationalization strategy за счет следующего:

  • For approbation of the results of student qualifying works and scientific work of students at the department, the publication of an electronic collection of student scientific articles “AUTOMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES” is provided. Articles in the entire collection can be published in Ukrainian and English, but the requirements for publishing articles include the obligatory naming of the author’s surname, as well as the wording of the article title, abstract and keywords in English, which will force students to use this language and corresponds to paragraph 1 regarding strategic goals of internationalization and the main ways to achieve it, and paragraph 4 on the internationalization of the educational process, as well as paragraph 1, paragraph 5, paragraph 6, paragraph 9 on the internationalization of scientific activity in the accepteduniversity internationalization strategies. The small amount of English text contained in the title of the article, its abstract and keywords does not allow students to properly develop the use of English, so in the future it is planned to take a set of measures to encourage students to publish in this collection of articles in English
  • To test the results of the scientific work of teachers and students at the department, it is planned to conduct international scientific and technical conference “MANUFACTURING & MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS» (M&MS), based on the results of which the electronic publication of abstracts of reports up to 5 pages is carried out, which can be prepared, including in English, which corresponds to paragraph 1, paragraph 2, paragraph 3, paragraph 5 regarding the strategic goals of internationalization and the main ways of its achievements, and p. 2, p. 4, p. 11, p. 12 on the internationalization of the educational process, as well as p. 1, p. 5, p. 6, p. 9, p. 10 on the internationalization of scientific activities in the accepteduniversity internationalization strategies. Indeed, colleagues from foreign universities and institutions actively participate in this conference, such as, for example, the IVth conference, held on October 22-23, 2020 and due to quarantine restrictions due to the global COVID-19 epidemic, was held online using GoogleMeet. In the International Program Committee of this conference, in addition to domestic specialists representing various universities and organizations of Ukraine, specialists from Poland (2 people), Australia (1 person), Azerbaijan (2 people), Scotland (1 person) and China were involved (1 person). The conference, in addition to domestic specialists representing various universities and organizations of Ukraine, was attended by specialists from China (1 report), Azerbaijan (7 reports) and the Czech Republic (1 report). Students of the department are actively involved in the conference. A noticeable number of abstracts of reports by Ukrainian specialists was prepared in English, which indicates the growth of its use in scientific research. In the future, it is planned to increase the number of foreign specialists at the International Program Committee of this conference, as well as the introduction of a set of measures to encourage Ukrainian conference participants to prepare abstracts in English.
  • The implementation of teaching in English of academic disciplines for students – citizens of foreign countries, which corresponds to paragraph 6 regarding the strategic goals of internationalization and the main ways to achieve it, and paragraph 1, paragraph 3, paragraph 4, paragraph 7, paragraph 8, p. 9, p. 11, p. 12 on the internationalization of the educational process, but contributes to future activities under p. 7, p. 8, p. 10 on the internationalization of scientific activities in the accepteduniversity internationalization strategies. In the future, it is planned to increase the number of students – citizens of foreign states.
  • To disseminate the results of scientific activities, the staff of the department participate in international scientific conferences and publish articles abroad; the use of English is encouraged by enrolling teachers and students as an international activity, publishing materials of international conferences held in Ukraine and having foreign specialists as part of the program committee, as well as publishing articles in domestic professional publications of categories “A” and “B” conditions for submitting materials and articles in English, which corresponds to paragraph 1, paragraph 2, paragraph 3 regarding the strategic goals of internationalization and the main ways to achieve it, and paragraph 2, paragraph 3, paragraph 6, paragraph 7, paragraph 9, p. 11, p. 12 on the internationalization of the educational process, as well as p. 1, p. 3, p. 6, p. 9, p. 11, p. 12 on the internationalization of scientific activity in the accepteduniversity internationalization strategies

International projects

Teachers of the department actively participate in international projects:

  • Over the past 4 years, an international project has been carried out – holding the International Scientific and Technical Conference “MANUFACTURING & MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS (M&MS), which results in the electronic publication of abstracts of reports up to 5 pages, which can be prepared, including in English. Teachers participate in this project as a member of the International Program Committee, a member of the organizing committee, a conference participant; students participate as conference participants – speakers and co-authors of reports. Colleagues from foreign universities and institutions actively participate in this conference, as, for example, the IVth conference, held on October 22-23, 2020 and due to quarantine restrictions as a result of the global COVID-19 epidemic, was held online using GoogleMeet. In the International Program Committee of this conference, in addition to domestic specialists representing various universities and organizations of Ukraine, specialists from Poland (2 people), Australia (1 person), Azerbaijan (2 people), Scotland (1 person) and China were involved (1 person). The conference, in addition to domestic specialists representing various universities and organizations of Ukraine, was attended by specialists from China (1 report), Azerbaijan (7 reports) and the Czech Republic (1 report). Students of the department are actively involved in the conference. In the future, it is planned to raise the level of this scientific conference and include it in international scientometric databases (Google Scholar, Scopus and others).
  • Teachers of the department apply for competitions for participation in international projects. In 2020, project proposals were submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for a coordinated bilateral Ukrainian-Czech scientific project on the topic “Development of approaches to control the temperature fields of structures, taking into account strength and vibration limitations to optimize the transient modes of operation of nuclear power plants” for joint implementation by the University Western Bohemia

Acquaintance of applicants with world scientific achievements

Ultra-modern world scientific achievements in the field of automation and computer-integrated technologies are associated today with the introduction of the Industry 4.0 concept, which is essentially based on the use of digital technologies and their corresponding electronic devices and software. Taking into account this circumstance, in order to familiarize applicants with world scientific achievements, the educational programs provide for the relevant academic disciplines:

The practice of participation of applicants for higher education in international activities

The participation of applicants for higher education in international activities in practice comes down to the following:

In recent years, there has been a positive trend in increasing the number of students who regularly participate in the Department of International Scientific Project – international scientific and technical conference “MANUFACTURING & MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS» (M&MS). Indeed, some fourth-year students took part in international scientific and technical conference “MANUFACTURING & MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS» (M&MS), although participation was intended primarily for graduate students; this indicates a certain interest of students in international scientific activities.

Incentives for participation in international cooperation

Participation in international cooperation is a priority direction of the department’s work. Participation in such cooperation requires high qualifications in the subject area of scientific research and educational work, as well as sufficient knowledge of foreign languages, primarily English, which requires their constant use. To stimulate the participation of teachers and applicants of higher education in international cooperation, the following is proposed:

  • To encourage the use of the English language by enrolling teachers and students as an international activity, the publication of materials of international conferences held in Ukraine and having foreign specialists as part of the program committee, as well as the publication of articles in domestic professional publications of categories “A” and “B” for the conditions of submission of materials and articles in English
  • Students who have expressed interest in scientific activities are invited to publish articles and conference materials in English, even in domestic scientific journals and scientific international conferences
  • Academic disciplines taught in English for students – citizens of foreign countries, are not included in the staffing of the department, but are paid separately as a part-time job or by hourly payment

The main aim of the project

MOVEs is a 3-year project aimed at organizing an effective Virtual Exchange Program as a platform for professional and intercultural interaction, exchange of experience, to provide high-quality educational services and create conditions for developing cooperation and communication skills of young people and increasing access to international training for everyone student, regardless of their circumstances, background or abilities, especially at a time when student mobility is limited and finances are limited. The virtual exchange program is not only a short-term solution to the disruption that universities in Ukraine and Georgia face today, but also part of a comprehensive plan to promote the internationalization of each university and each student. To organize the active interaction of departments involved in attracting and training students within the framework of academic mobility projects, we offer a model of Virtual National and International Academic Exchange Programs, which contains interconnected components: organizational structure, digital support, communication and interaction. The goal of the project is to improve the areas and forms of cooperation and communication for all academic and administrative departments of the university; training facilitators (moderators) to develop virtual exchange projects with colleagues from other countries; advanced training of the administrative and teaching staff to acquire skills in working with mobile students and to promote their mastery of intercultural communication skills; development of a tool for information exchange and intercultural dialogue between students and teachers of different universities, nationalities, cultures, religions and languages. The project activities will focus on knowledge sharing and the formation of interaction skills in a multi-ethnic environment, simplified procedures for creating and distributing educational materials, methods of remote interaction, providing access to a variety of resources necessary for a quality educational process.

Main tasks:

  1. Creation of an effective mechanism to support the virtual exchange program, adapt to the new academic context and integrate into the educational system of the host university.
  2. Building the global competencies and skills (digital literacy, cultural awareness and ability to negotiate and collaborate across borders) needed for career advancement among young people in Ukraine and Georgia.
  3. Improving the qualifications of administrative and teaching staff to acquire the skills to work with mobile students and promote their mastery of intercultural communication skills and organizing effective interaction with students as representatives of different cultures.
  4. Development of a tool for the exchange of information and intercultural dialogue between students and teachers of different universities, nationalities, cultures, religions and languages, improving the efficiency of the educational process by creating a web portal of the Common Information Space (SIS).
  5. Creation of an international consortium within the framework of the system of advanced training of managerial and pedagogical personnel for working with intercultural groups and the development of the educational, scientific and cultural potential of all participants in the program.
  6. Improving the areas and forms of cooperation and communication for all academic and administrative departments of universities, methodological and technical support for the implementation of virtual exchanges and other issues that have a significant impact on attracting students to virtual exchange processes.

 

 Green Transition in Ukrainian Universities, NAWA project 2023

NURE together with 6 Ukrainian universities and the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education involved in Unite! community  within the framework of the ERASMUS+UNITE! project (2022-2026), stage WP8, An Open Innovation Community for the Green Transition, in the field of green transformation with the further perspective of establishing permanent and wider cooperation with Unite! network The selection of Ukrainian partners for Wrocław Tech is based on cooperation with Erasmus+ projects for the period 2015-2023, mainly engineering activity profile. The project is financially supported by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchanges NAWA.

MainTasks:

▪ Green standards for Ukrainian universities in the field of education and research activities in the area of engineering and technical sciences (creation of a local version of green standards in the field of research and teaching activities taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian universities with compatibility with standards developed in the Unite! network, implementation of standards);

▪ Green campus (development of a green campus model; implementation of standards and evaluation of the process of implementation of green standards in the area of research and teaching activities and campus functioning);

▪ Summer school entitled GREEN TECHNOLOGIES FOR UKRAINE’S SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT (development and implementation of a 2-week course covering issues in disciplines that will be applied in the process of reconstruction and modernisation of industry and infrastructure of Ukraine for students of partner

universities);

▪ Unite! micro credentials system for Ukrainian partners (development of a system of Unite! micro credentials in a thematically related field of green transformation and making it available to students from Ukrainian HEIs).
