Resource support for the educational process

The Department of Computer-Integrated Technologies, Automation and Mechatronics conducts the training of third (educational and scientific) level higher education applicants in the specialty 151 Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies.

The department uses general university classrooms, classrooms of general education departments, and classrooms on the premises of which it is located for the training of applicants for the ONP.

The department has at its disposal the following classrooms for conducting classes and researches for applicants of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education:

– Laboratory of “Automated Logistics Systems” (room 162-3);

– laboratory “Automation of production and robotics” (room 162-2);

– “Industrial Automation” laboratory (room 159);

– laboratory of “Additive technologies and 3D prototyping” (room 160-2).

To provide applicants with information resources, the department has a complete set of methodological support in electronic form, which are available to each applicant; access to the university’s internal information network is provided, allowing use CEMS, located in the library; scientific library of NURE has an access to online databses, which can be used by any student of higher education and university employee. In the conditions of distance learning (under martial law) he works at the university distance learning platform DL, which provides synchronous and asynchronous training for students of the third level of higher education.

Laboratory of “Automated logistics systems” equipped with an automated conveyor line for sorting with a control system from KAPELOU Europe (Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany) which was transferred to the CHINA department at the beginning of 2022. A sorting conveyor line consists of: a conveyor belt, sorting mechanisms, sensors and software to control the entire system. Currently, the acquirers are developing and researching a computer vision system. Sensors located on the conveyor belt read information about each object and transmit it to the software of the sorting system. Depending on the specified sorting parameters, the program decides how to sort each object.

Laboratory “Automation of production and robotics” is supported by FESTO. The laboratory is equipped with a Festo Robotino mobile robot, which is equipped with various sensors such as a laser scanner, camera and touch sensors, allowing it to navigate in space and perform various tasks. In addition, it can use the marking system on the floor to navigate a certain route. The robot is used in the study and research of computer vision systems and supervision systems. It can be integrated into various automation systems, such as conveyor lines, storage systems, etc. Also, within the framework of the laboratory, the development of scientists of the CHINA department is used – a robot with six wheels and a computer vision system of the “Mars rover” type. The robot uses its six wheels to move in any direction, including turning in place and moving sideways. This allows the work to maneuver in tight spaces and move over uneven surfaces, making it ideal for work in warehouses, production facilities and other places where mobility and maneuverability are required. The computer vision system of the robot includes cameras, sensors and special software for processing information. With the help of this system, the robot can receive information about the surrounding environment, for example, about the distance to objects, their shape and location, as well as about obstacles in its path.

Laboratory “Industrial automation” equipped with laboratory models of firms «OWEN»  and «CAMOZZI».

The stand of the automated ventilation control system based on the PLC of the “ARIES” company allows you to study the automation of the process of controlling the operation of the ventilation system, ensures optimization of energy consumption and reduction of maintenance and repair costs. It can also be used for training courses and practical classes.

The industrial pneumatics laboratory stand of the Camozzi company is an educational complex that allows students of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in the specialty 151 Automation and computer-integrated technologies to learn the basics of pneumatic systems and their management. The stand consists of several modules that include various elements of pneumatic systems, such as cylinders, valves, pressure-regulating and pressure-compensating devices, as well as many sensors and control elements. With the help of this stand, applicants can practically study various operating principles and settings of pneumatic systems, as well as create and debug control programs.

Laboratory of “Additive technologies and 3D prototyping” equipped with laboratory models: “3D printer based on Delta kinematics”, “Photopolymer printer”, “3D printer with XZ kinematics”, which were developed by scientists and acquirers as part of scientific research. This allows applicants to study and conduct research on the development of 3D printer control algorithms, conduct research on 3D printing technologies, develop and research integrated management systems and automated quality control methods for 3D printed products.

Also, the KITAM department has a computer park on the basis of which students can perform mathematical and simulation modeling, carry out simulations and calculations, all software is licensed or freely distributed software. The amount of equipment and software is sufficient to conduct a full cycle of training of applicants for the “Automation and computer-integrated technologies” program.

If necessary, the CHINA department can use the computer rooms of the information and computing center of the university with the necessary software.

Every year, the department submits applications for the purchase of equipment, software and materials necessary for the further provision of the educational process.

High-quality training of applicants for all OPs and ONPs is carried out by the teachers of the department, including:

– 13 doctors of science, 10 of whom have the academic title of professor;

– 26 candidates of sciences, of which 23 have the academic title of associate professor.

All of them have qualifications corresponding to the specialty “Automation and computer-integrated technologies”, which is used to train applicants for the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education, conduct scientific activities, supervise the academic work of applicants, take part in work on international and scientific and research projects carried out at the expense of the state budget and on the order of industrial enterprises, have sufficient work experience and undergo professional development in a timely manner. To improve the quality of education for the preparation of applicants, the KITAM department attracts leading production specialists and practitioners in the field of “Automation and Instrumentation”.
