Our faculty and department have joined the international ERASMUS+ K2 project on electronic waste management (SDG 3, 6, 12, 13, 14, 15).
The Faculty of Automation and Computer Technologies, the CITAR Department, joined as an associated partner in the international ERASMUS+, K2 project on e-waste management “E-waste sustainable management practices for electronics Reduction And TECHnology sustainability” to participate in partnership cooperation between universities of the European alliance UNITE!
Together with our consortium partners, we will work to increase awareness, knowledge, and practical skills in the field of e-waste management through innovative educational and social initiatives, ultimately aimed at achieving the goals of SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The project’s aim is to create a joint 2-year master’s degree program in e-waste for the universities of the Consortium, which will equip students with the competencies necessary to play a role in the labour market in the field of e-waste, aligning with the goals of sustainable societal development.
The main coordinator of the project is the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WroclawTech), Republic of Poland, the project leader is Professor of the Department of Microsystems, Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems, Doctor of Engineering Karolina Laszczyk, who explains – “Electronic waste, in simple terms, is electronic modules with all their components, capacitors, transistors, resistors, etc. This also includes batteries and the printed circuit boards themselves, which are laminated epoxy bases with tracks and solder pads.”
The consortium includes partner universities from Unite!, namely: Aalto University (Finland), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), University of Grenoble-Alpes (France), as well as Keio University (Japan), Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico), Lutsk National Technical University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and Odesa National Polytechnic University (Ukraine). NURE will be represented in the consortium by the Dean of the ACT Faculty, Professor of the KITAR Department, Oleksandr FILIPENKO.
The duration of the project is 3 years. Participation in the project will include meetings for joint discussions with other partners on the content and content of the educational program, conducting guest lectures and classes for students and teachers, presenting one’s own experience and proposals, conducting a summer school, and developing microcredit courses for stakeholders.
