83 million jobs will disappear in 5 years: what professions should be asked?

The development of artificial intelligence is increasingly affecting the labor market. During the World Economic Forum, experts presented the Future of Jobs 2023 report, formed on the basis of a survey of 803 companies. About its main conclusions and changes expected by employers, told on the portal Work.ua.

 

As for the adoption of robots, data from the International Federation of Robotics shows that the number of industrial robots per 10,000 workers has continued to grow rapidly over the past five years in various countries. The density of robots has almost doubled over the past 5 years and reached an average of 126 industrial robots per 10,000 workers.

 

Today, 34% of all business tasks are performed by machines, while the remaining 66% are performed by humans.

 

The potential scope for automation and augmentation will expand even further over the next few years as AI technologies develop and find mainstream applications in various sectors.

 

Over the next five years, 83 million jobs will be lost and 69 million will be created. This will lead to a reduction in global labor markets by 14 million jobs.

 

The biggest reduction in jobs for 2027 is expected in administrative positions and in the fields of security, trade. 

 

What professions will be in demand

A significant increase in the number of jobs is expected in the fields of education (+10%), agriculture (+30%) and digital trade. The growth of professions related to digital technologies is predicted.

 

The largest job growth is expected in occupations:

  • Mechanics and car repairers
  • Electrical engineers
  • Digital transformation experts
  • Specialists in sustainable development
  • Digital Marketing and Strategy Specialists.
