No less exciting was the interactive “Space Battle on a Laser Machine”, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Nikitin D.O. Participants had the opportunity to try themselves as laser engraver operators: using G-codes, they had to “knock down” as many “spaceship” chips as possible. This format combined training, technical creativity and real team excitement. The participation of the CITARSE department in the Open Day once again confirmed its desire to combine modern education, innovative technologies and practical training of students. The event left a vivid impression on schoolchildren and their parents and helped future entrants take another step towards choosing their profession.

As part of the visit, representatives of the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics visited the Pivdennoukrainsk NPP, where they got acquainted with the features of the functioning of a modern energy facility and held a working meeting with the management of the enterprise. The issues of training highly qualified personnel for the energy industry, as well as the prospects for further cooperation between the university and the enterprise, were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to career guidance work with youth. The teachers held meetings with students of grades 10-11 of six educational institutions of the city (five secondary schools and a vocational college). During the presentations, the educational opportunities of NURE, modern areas of training in the specialty G7 Automation, computer-integrated technologies and robotics, as well as the employment prospects of graduates were presented in detail.

The final stage of the event was an evening meeting with the parents of future applicants, during which the conditions of admission, the features of the educational process and opportunities for professional development of students were discussed.

Participation in such events contributes to strengthening ties between education and industry, and also increases the interest of young people in obtaining engineering specialties, which are critically important for the development of the energy sector of Ukraine.

The event brought together around 65 participants, including students, PhD candidates, researchers, academics, and business representatives.

Discussions focused on key aspects of the circular economy, such as innovative business models, circular strategies, and collaboration practices.

Speakers from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics shared their expertise and research insights.

A strong emphasis was placed on the role of education and STEAM approaches in driving sustainable transformation.

Participants also highlighted the importance of cross-sector partnerships and interdisciplinary cooperation.

The webinar concluded with an interactive exchange of ideas, reinforcing the value of collaboration in building a circular future.

As part of the Hackathon, participants worked in teams on practical cases that model real production situations, with the involvement of mentoring support from specialists from the partner company and NURE.

According to the results of the competition, a student of the ACTACIT-23-2 group of the ACITS faculty, Bohdan Karpovych, became one of the two winners of the Hackathon, which is a confirmation of the high level of his professional training and engineering potential. The winners of the Hackathon will receive a monthly scholarship of UAH 5,000 from S-Engineering for six months.

Participation and victory in such events confirm the high level of training of students of the AKITS faculty and their readiness for the real challenges of modern industry.

The key topic of discussion was the integration of modern mobile and robotic solutions into the overall security architecture of nuclear facilities based on the Vulcan-M software and hardware complex from Westron.

Why modernization is critical?

As experts note, existing stationary ASKRO systems in conditions of military threats and unstable infrastructure (for example, the situation at the ZNPP) have certain vulnerabilities. In particular, stationary points cannot always ensure stable data transmission in emergency situations, and communication failures and loss of GPS signal reveal the need for autonomous solutions. In addition, existing networks need to be improved for accurate monitoring in difficult weather conditions, for example, with narrowly directed emissions (15-20°).

Latest solutions: Drones and quadrupedal robots

The modernization concept involves the creation of a hybrid architecture that combines stationary control points with mobile platforms. The updated system is planned to include:

• Heavy-duty vehicles (UGVs): Off-road drones that serve as a “base” for transporting other equipment and robots.
• Quadrupedal robots (e.g. Unitree and Spot): Due to their high maneuverability, they are able to conduct reconnaissance inside industrial premises, overcoming stairs and obstacles.
• Multi-rotor aerial vehicles (UAVs): Used for rapid 3D mapping of radiation contamination over large areas.

Such robotic complexes allow for radiation reconnaissance and sampling without risk to personnel, significantly reducing the dose load during inspections.

The proposed solutions are already undergoing practical testing. In particular, a series of successful tests of four-legged robots and aerial drones were conducted at the Chernobyl NPP and in the Ukrainian Polissya region in collaboration with scientists from the University of Bristol.

The speakers of the event focused on the issues of business models in smart cities, public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms, and effective cooperation of stakeholders in the process of implementing urban innovation projects.

During the speeches, the following were considered:

• modern approaches to forming business models in Smart City projects;
• tools for attracting investments within the framework of public-private partnerships;
• roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders (local governments, business, public sector, scientific institutions);
• practical cases of implementing smart solutions in business and communities.

Special attention was paid to the presentation of research results on the topic of the project. At the end of the event, the results of the Eco4Smart project were presented and further steps in its development were outlined.
